• These certifications will add value to your diamond and increase the price that the stone can be sold for. There are a few main companies that certify diamonds; GIA, EGL, and IGI are the main ones you will see.

So this means if you bought a diamond from a traditional jewelry store for $5000, you might expect to get $1000 back for it. If it is a higher quality diamond certified by GIA, the price would be about $1500.
   
• This may sound bad to you but if you shop around, you will see that its true. Most buyers will not disclose these facts about the secondhand market for diamonds but I prefer full disclosure to avoid surprises.
